Jushna is the hub of studio. She manages the flow of work between clients and the design team to bring projects in on time and on budget. The role requires her to balance organised efficiency with encouragement and diplomacy. Her background is fashion and she has been a lead designer at Skew before switching roles to Design Manager. Jushna nurtures a collaborative and supportive approach to running the studio that works equally well for team members and our clients.
Oliver founded Skew and is the sole director. He splits his time between creative direction and business development. Using his background in textile design and trend forecasting Oliver started Skew in 2003, initially to supply trend information for character brands. Between then and now he has grown the client base and with it the scope of our creative projects.
Kat is an incredibly experienced and well rounded creative. An early textile design intern, she has led a diverse range of projects from applied graphics for VW to overseeing the creative development of the Clangers rebrand. It’s Kat’s job to lead our Monday morning creative review meetings and she’s the team member that has her eye on the exhibitions, events and launches we research to keep us on top of our game.
We pride ourselves on pushing the team to develop their creative skills in different areas. That said, Jose has such a vibrant FMCG packaging portfolio that it was natural that his first challenge at Skew was to tackle packaging for Doctor Who. Jose led a team that brought an energy and commercial freshness to the brand.
Alix joined from Camberwell’s MA program as a graphic design placement. Her background is illustration, a skill she uses constantly on projects from branding and packaging to textile and product development. Her recent client highlights include ranges of applied graphics for Candy Crush and leading the Wanda And The Alien style guide team for Penguin Random House.
We’ve been very fortunate to have had brilliant illustrator and designer Sam Norden interning for us over the winter. We’re thrilled to be welcoming him to the team long term as he takes over Alix’s maternity cover as Junior Graphics designer.
Helen joined Skew only last year and quickly progressed from intern to design assistant to Junior Graphic designer. In a very short space of time she has taken on project leadership roles, created vintage sub-branding for one of the Uk’s most enduring preschool characters and is now leading a team working on packaging for major entertainment brand.
Our most recent internship program alumni, Harriet joined Skew this spring as Junior Textile Designer and immediately set about helping us win two important pitches. She brings a range of fresh illustration and surface pattern styles to the team.
Financial controller at Skew means being involved in every aspect of the studio. Kiran works from forecasting to compliance, making sure that the team and our clients are supported. Projects get pushed through the studio smoothy at Skew so the only surprises our clients get are of the welcome kind.
